Aaron Rodgers Listening To Extra Podcasts To Prepare For Possible VP Nom
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.'s campaign announced on Tuesday that Aaron Rodgers, the New York Jets quarterback, and Jesse Ventura, the former governor of Minnesota, were the leading candidates to be his running mate.
Ventura’s political experience makes him a logical choice, but eyebrows were raised about Rodgers' qualifications for the nation's second-highest office.
The NFL veteran, who has compiled an impressive 1-4 record in conference championship games, insists he’s taking the possibility seriously and listening to “way more” podcasts than usual.
“I’m committed to this one hundred percent,” Rodgers said. “It’s not something to take lightly, and I’m prepared to do whatever I need to, just like a football game.”
Rodgers said he’s now listening to podcasts for an hour or two a day, “at a minimum."
“It’s about educating myself,” he continued. “I’m only a heartbeat away."
Podcasts aren’t the only source of information Rodgers uses to bone up on the issues.
“You can also learn a lot from YouTube,” he said. “You have to be open-minded about where you get your information. Podcasts are great for learning because they sound like an audiobook, so it’s almost like reading."
Rodgers emphasized that while listening to extra podcasts was a bit of personal sacrifice, he was willing to do the hard work to serve the American people.
“It’s for the good of the nation,” he said. “And easy to do while I’m working out or driving."
